Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (online degrees/diplomas are not accepted), and
- Current Nursing (RN) license in the North America, Western Europe, or Australia/New Zealand, and
- Minimum two years of current experience as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area, working in a mid- to large-sized acute-care hospital in North America, Western Europe, or Australia/New Zealand.
Department Information
The Medical Unit has 32 beds that caters Endocrine patients with Diabetes (Type I & Type II), Diabetic Keto-acidosis, Pheocromocytoma, Adrenal insufficiency, Hypo/AHypercalcemia, Radioactive Iodine (RAI) treatment for Thyroid Cancer patients, MIBG treatment for Malignant Pheocromocytoma, Carcinoid & other Neuroendocrine tumors, Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT) for Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia that can no longer be operable & other measurees have been done, Multiple Endocrine tests for Short Stature, Different Stimulation test to assess Pituitary Insufficiencies, Glucose Tolerance test for Acromegally, Suppression tests for Hyperinsulinism & Factitious hypoglycemia, Water Deprivation test for differential diagnosis of Diabetes Insipidus, Posterior Petrosal Sinus Sampling (PPSS) for differential diagnosis of Cushing Syndrome; Infectious Diseases patients e.g. HIV, Pulmonary Tuberculosis,etc.; Allergy/Immunology patients e.g. Exacerbation of Bronchial Asthma, Cystic fibrosis, Hyper Ige Syndrome, etc. Dermatology patients e.g. Pemphigus Vulgaris, Psoriasis,etc. ; Internal Medicines patients with Community Acquired Pneumonia, Deep Vein Thrombosis, Pyelonephritis, Fever of Unknown Origin, Multiple Medical Problems with complications e.g. Aspiration Pneumonia, Multiple infected bedsores from home, Sepsis, Renal failure, Hypo/Hypernatremia, Cardiovascular diseases, etc. On occasions we receive patients for Surgery, Rheumatology, Nephorology, eurology, Gastrology patients. We also administer intravenous Cytotoxic drugs and Chemotherapy.

- Management of artificial airways ( tracheostomy care, suctioning & change)
- Chest tube management ( assist in Insertion and removal )
- Oxygen therapy and O2 saturation monitoring
- Daily routine Blood glucose monitoring
- Bone marrow aspiration (assisting Bone Marrow technician)
- Assist MD I performing Thoracentesis
- Assist MD in performing Paracentesis
- Assist MD in performing Lumbar puncture
- Assist MD in performing Skin biopsy
- Genitourinary care ( insertion & care of foley catheter)
- Preparing patients for Hemodialysis (Done by dialysis nurses)
- Preparing patients for Plasma pharesis (Done by blood Bank Nurses)
- Staples and suture removal
- Assist MD in performing CVC (central venous catheter) insertion on emergency cases
- Blood drawing in the absence of Phlebotomist
- PCA/Epidural for Pain management
