The Dental Clinic engages in clinical practice in a forty-nine operatory clinic in the out-patient wing of the main hospital and two satellite clinics. It is staffed by dentists (consultants, associate consultants, and general practice residents), dental hygienists, registered nurses, dental assistants, dental laboratory technicians, secretaries, and other support staff.
Among the services provided are: general dentistry, specialty dentistry and hospital in-patient dentistry. Tertiary care services are available for patients who are medically compromised, have facial pain, require maxillofacial or comprehensive prosthetics, have facial deformities, or require out-patient general anesthesia (with the Department of Anesthesiology) for dental treatment. The department provides team members to the Hospitalâs Cleft Palate and Head & Neck Oncology Teams.
The Ophthalmology Service provides high standards of eye care for all patients of KFSHRC with tertiary eye problems. The service provides care also for patient with primary eye problems that cannot be treated in local hospital due to associated systemic disease. Outpatient and inpatient clinical evaluation, special ophthalmic investigations, treatment and ocular surgeries are provided. The ophthalmology staff is involved in clinical education for residents, interns, and students. Research is part of the scope of service to provide better understanding and new treatment modalities for the eye conditions.
