Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (online degrees/diplomas are not accepted), and
- Current Nursing (RN) license in the North America, Western Europe, or Australia/New Zealand, and
- Minimum two years of current experience as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area, working in a mid- to large-sized acute-care hospital in North America, Western Europe, or Australia/New Zealand.
Department Information
The Nursing Section of the Radiology Department provides nursing care to patients in the Radiology Department at our client hospital.
Procedures/Services/Functions:
CT/MRI
- Patient assessment and chart review.
- Initiation of intravenous access.
- Manual and power injection of contrast.
- Contrast reaction management.
- Care of intravenous, CVCâs, Hickman and Port a caths, peri and post administration of contrast.
- Monitoring of sedated inpatients with pulse oximetry.
- Assist and transfer of GA patients to Recovery Room, in Radiology.
- Emergency response for entire Radiology Department.
- Assist the Radiologist with CT guided FNAâs and Biopsies.
- Ordering pharmacy and nursing supplies.
Recovery Room
- Patient assessment pre, peri and post GA. also recovering of patient post GA.
- Monitoring of Renal Captopril Study patients.
- Initiation of intravenous access.
- Patient assessment and monitoring from all other sections.
Nuclear Medicine, General X-ray
Angiography
- Patient monitoring pre, peri and post angiography procedure and conscious sedation.
- Scrub and circulating role during interventional angiography procedures.
- EKG monitoring and interpretation.
- 24 hrs follow-up on In-patients that have had an Angiography Invasive Procedure.
Ultrasound
- Patient assessment pre, peri and post US guided invasive procedures
- 24 hrs follow-up on In-patients that have had an Ultrasound Guided Invasive Procedure
Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
- Patient assessment and chart review
- Assessment and/or insertion of intravenous access
- Blood glucose monitoring and administration of insulin per protocol.
- Assist technologist in administration of radioactive isotopes and positioning of patients.
- Monitor patients for that have had medications for conscious sedation.
Fluoroscopy
- Insertion of Foley catheter for VCUGâs.
- Assessment and/or insertion of intravenous access for IVPâs.
Hours of Operation
- Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Normal working hours are 0700 to 1800 Saturday to Tuesday and 0700 â 1700 on Wednesday.
- Occasional over time for CT/MRI on Thursdays from 0800-1400.
- On Call 1800 to 0700 Saturday to Tuesday and from 1700 Wednesday to 0700 Saturday (for Angiography Nurses only).
