Department Information

The Cardiac Cath Lab provides a vital service to all people of Saudi Arabia and is an integral part of the Heart Institute of our client hospital. The Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Laboratories provide diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures for both adult and pediatric outpatients and inpatients. These services employ state of the art technologies and equipment to remain at the forefront ofthe diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.

Cardiac catheterization procedures include hemodynamic and angiographic diagnostic studies, endomyocardial biopies, coronary and other angioplasties, valvuloplasties, placement of intravascular stents, embolization of vascular structures, occlusion of intracardiac defects, direct emergency revascularization of acute myocardialinfarction, and minor surgical procedures, primarily for vascular access or more major surgical intervention in conjunction with hybrid procedures.

The Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) services function within catheterization laboratories to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for adult and pediatric inpatients and outpatients with cardiac arrhythmias. These potentially life-threatening conditions are treated through the use of cardioversion, selective tissue destruction(catheter ablation), and the implantation of pacemakers and automatic defibrillators.
