Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (online degrees/diplomas are not accepted), and
- Current Nursing (RN) license in the North America, Western Europe, or Australia/New Zealand, and
- Minimum two years of current experience as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area, working in a mid- to large-sized acute-care hospital in North America, Western Europe, or Australia/New Zealand.
Department Information
Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant/Hematology/Oncology/Allergy/Immunology (B-3) is a pediatric unit providing comprehensive 24 hour nursing care to infants and children less than 14 years of age. The unit consists of 34 single patient rooms: 18 rooms with laminar flow and HEPA filtration, 14 standard rooms and 2 negative pressure rooms.
The most commonly treated conditions include but not limited to the following:
- Leukemia
- Lymphoma
- Hematological diseases
- Non-malignant diseases
- Solid tumors
- Immunodeficiency disorders

- Use of the nursing process: assessment, planning, interventions, and evaluation
- Core Standards of Care
- Medication administration and symptom management
- Chemotherapy administration (IV push, IVPB, PO, IM, Intrathecal) and management
- Procedural Sedation
- Bone marrow aspiration & biopsy , lumbar puncture, skin and rectal biopsy
- Blood and blood products (ATG, IVIG) administration including stem cell infusions (allogenic, autologous, cord blood)
- Total Body Irradiation (TBI)
- Nutritional Support (TPN, weight, caloric count, enteral feeds)
- Management of Vascular Access Devices (Central and Peripheral)
- Intermittent & continuous bladder irrigation
- Tracheostomy management
- Hemodynamic monitoring
- Management of myelosuppression
- Pain management including Patient Controlled Analgesia, Narcotic Infusions
- Palliative care
- Patient/family education
- Psychosocial support
- Ostomy care and management
- Chest tube management
- Oxygen therapy & pulse oximetry
- Pre-op preparation & post-operative care

- Management of Stem Cell Infusions for patients admitted to non-BMT units

Hours of Operation
24 hours per day, 7 days a week
